Sonny, a member of Commission III of the Solo DPRD from the PSI Fraction, emphasized that social security protection must remain a high priority alongside workplace safety standards.
According to Sonny, Disnaker must actively inspect business owners to confirm their employees are registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, ensuring that workers or their families receive proper compensation if accidents occur. He noted that a previous workplace accident at PLTSa Putri Cempo involved victims who lacked insurance coverage, a situation that must not be repeated.
Based on reports from the scene, the elevator involved in the incident was designed solely for carrying goods. Sonny pointed out that operational tools must be used strictly according to their intended functions and safety standards.
Although the workshop is a privately owned business rather than a government facility, Sonny stressed that private owners hold full responsibility for maintaining safety protocols. Every business must ensure that heavy machinery and operational equipment comply with established safety codes to prevent further loss of life.
