The debate over the future of the Democratic Party grew sharp on Friday's broadcast of "The View." Co-host Joy Behar flatly rejected the idea of former Vice President Kamala Harris leading the ticket again in the 2028 presidential election. She told her fellow panelists that they were not living in reality and suggested a list composed entirely of straight White men instead.

The conversation began when Alyssa Farah Griffin offered her perspective on the upcoming political landscape. According to Griffin, the most likely person to secure the Democratic nomination is Kamala Harris, noting that polls often show her neck and neck with California Governor Gavin Newsom. Behar quickly interrupted the point.

Behar expressed affection for Harris but questioned the wisdom of a second campaign. She noted that Harris failed to win the presidency before, referring to her loss against Donald Trump where she was swept in major swing states. Behar then presented her own choices for the 2028 nomination, naming Jon Ossoff, Josh Shapiro, Gavin Newsom, and JB Pritzker.

The panel divided over identity politics and electability in modern America. When Sara Haines suggested Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Behar questioned whether the public would vote for a gay candidate. Haines pushed back, arguing that identity reduces the true charisma of a person, to which Behar replied that such a view was outside of reality.

Sunny Hostin agreed with Behar's realistic approach, stating that the country experienced a backlash after the presidency of Barack Obama. Hostin argued that the Democratic Party must face facts to win and get the country back on track. Meanwhile, Ana Navarro rejected the notion that the next Democratic nominee must be a White man, though Behar maintained her sole focus was on securing a victory.
