The night was cold in Bekasi. Patrol teams from the D Pioneer Battalion of the Polda Metro Jaya Brimob Corps moved through the streets. They came upon a crowd gathered for illegal street racing on Jalan Raya Setu-Rawa Banteng. The officers acted fast. They broke up the gathering and detained two teenagers suspected of organizing the race.

Along with the suspects, the police seized one motorcycle and a mobile phone. According to Brimob Commander Kombes Henik Maryanto, the operation was part of a larger effort to secure the region. "Patrols will continue to be increased to prevent various potential disturbances to public order," Maryanto said on Thursday.

The crackdown happened during the early hours of Thursday. Officers swept through known trouble spots across Bekasi Regency. Before reaching the race site, the patrol moved through Cikarang, Cibitung, Tambun, and Grand Wisata. They coordinated closely with the Cikarang Barat Sector Police to deter street crimes, brawls, and thefts.

Based on statement from Maryanto, these routine night patrols serve as a necessary preventive measure. He noted that street racing violates the law and threatens the lives of the drivers and innocent road users. The police urged the public to report illegal racing or brawls through the 110 hotline.

The two teenagers and the seized evidence were transferred to the Setu Sector Police for further investigation. The patrol continued until dawn. The wider Bekasi Regency remained quiet, and no other disturbances were reported.
