A single glass panel detached from its frame after a sudden failure in the bracket support. The heavy sheet of glass fell onto the asphalt below and burst into fragments. "As soon as the incident occurred, we immediately carried out initial handling procedures to ensure the safety of employees at the location," Arumsari said.
The agency now plans a complete evaluation of the structure. They will inspect all building elements with similar characteristics to mitigate future risks. Arumsari emphasized that regular inspections will follow to ensure such an event does not happen again. Observers note that similar glass failures in high-rise buildings are often caused by thermal expansion from extreme temperature differences between the outdoor heat and indoor air conditioning.
By Thursday afternoon, the courtyard of the building remained littered with sharp debris. Police officers established a secure perimeter with yellow tape, and a forensic vehicle from the Inafis unit arrived at the scene. Investigators walked through the glass fragments to determine the precise cause of the failure.
Based on a statement from Kapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat Kombes Reynold EP Hutagalung, the intense weather likely played a critical role in the structural failure. "The glass shattered presumably because of the hot temperature outside while the inside used air conditioning," Hutagalung said. The temperature difference caused the material to expand until it broke.
