Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami amid UK extradition request

U.S. Marshals took controversial social media influencers Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate into custody in Miami on Saturday. According to the Justice Department, federal authorities acted on a sealed warrant pursuant to extradition proceedings requested by British prosecutors. Federal agents handcuffed the brothers outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate was scheduled to attend a bare-knuckle boxing event.

The arrests followed a major expansion of the criminal case against the brothers announced by Britain's Crown Prosecution Service. Bedfordshire Police confirmed the new filing brings the total charges against the brothers to 59, with Andrew Tate facing 42 charges and Tristan Tate facing 17. The alleged offenses date back to 2012 and involve four additional victims, raising the total count of alleged U.K. victims to seven.

According to prosecutors, Andrew Tate faces new charges including rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault, and offenses involving indecent images of a child. Tristan Tate faces additional charges of rape, sexual assault, and trafficking. "The CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US," said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division. "They have been arrested and await extradition proceedings to the UK."

The brothers hold dual citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom and gained fame online through content promoting hypermasculinity. Both men have consistently denied all criminal allegations brought against them in Romania and the United Kingdom. According to law enforcement sources, the brothers are expected to make an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
