Track Performance, Battery Specifications, and Dimensions

Developed under the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture, the compact Baojun Yep Plus answers the growing global demand for smaller electric SUVs. The vehicle showcases a distinctively utilitarian, retro silhouette featuring wide fenders, robust black bumpers, and prominent roof rails that draw immediate comparisons to iconic mini-4x4s like the Suzuki Jimny.

During closed-course testing at the manufacturer's expansive proving ground in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China, the EV demonstrated the characteristic instantaneous throttle response of electric powertrains. Equipped with an electric motor producing 75 kW of power and 180 Nm of torque, the compact vehicle achieves a governed top speed of 150 km/h, making it highly capable for urban stop-and-go traffic.

In its domestic market, the vehicle relies on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry across four distinct trims, providing driving ranges of 301 km, 401 km, and up to 501 km on a single charge. Measuring 3,996 mm in length with a 2,560 mm wheelbase, the chassis delivered tight handling dynamics and stable body control when tackling simulated rough road surfaces at a steady 55 km/h.

Beyond Asian markets, the platform serves a broader global role under General Motors, where it is exported and rebranded as the Chevrolet Spark EUV. Retail prices in China currently range between 76,800 yuan and 105,800 yuan, positioning the vehicle as a highly competitive entry-level lifestyle EV if brought to international right-hand-drive markets.
