Shifting Family Negotiations to Legal Mediation

A planned meeting between Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah scheduled for July 11, 2026, is highly likely to be canceled. Sarwendah's legal team has opted to move all discussions regarding child custody directly to the courtroom, following the divorce and custody lawsuit previously filed by Ruben at the South Jakarta District Court.

Ruben's attorney, Minola Sebayang, revealed that both parties had originally agreed on an out-of-court meeting to discuss co-parenting schedules. However, after the official lawsuit was registered and the first hearing date was set, Sarwendah's representation suggested halting any private negotiations outside the legal framework.

"My team communicated with S"s (Sarwendah) legal counsel, and they suggested that the July 11 meeting be canceled altogether,' Minola Sebayang stated during a virtual interview on Thursday. He noted that all points originally intended for an amicable family discussion will now automatically be addressed during the court-mandated mediation phase.

Ruben's legal team is now placing their focus on the upcoming court mediation, which will be supervised by an official mediator to ensure a legally binding agreement. The inaugural court hearing for the high-profile case is officially scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
