Securing Vital Water Supply for Farmlands and Minapolitan Fisheries
To mitigate the severe impacts of the upcoming dry season, the Bogor Regency government has launched an extensive infrastructure drive focused on dredging drainage networks and optimizing irrigation systems across several strategic sub-districts. This tactical measure aims to sustain regional food security and prevent severe water shortages in both agricultural and aquaculture hubs.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto announced on Friday that the massive normalization project is actively targeting key areas including Ciseeng, Kemang, Parung, Gunung Sindur, Cariu, and Tanjungsari. The primary agricultural focus centers on Cariu and Tanjungsari, where critical irrigation networks supply water to approximately 700 to 800 hectares of highly productive farmlands.

In the Minapolitan aquaculture zones of Ciseeng, Kemang, Parung, and Rancabungur, the restoration of smooth water channels is considered paramount to safeguarding more than 200 hectares of community fishponds. "Our current focus is comprehensive waterway normalization combined with systematic irrigation management to deliver the best public service," Susmanto stated regarding the deployment.
As part of a broader contingency strategy, the local administration is simultaneously developing a piped distribution network from natural springs alongside constructing deep tube wells in drought-prone villages. Furthermore, authorities will enforce strict crackdowns on illegal structures built along riverbanks to permanently eliminate physical obstructions that disrupt the regional drainage flow.
